Luwak Coffee, Expensive Coffee from Indonesia

In my previous post, i had discussed about Pisang Goreng as tasty snack with hot coffee in the morning. Talking about coffee, i want to tell you about the coffee from  my country, Indonesia. It's called Kopi Luwak (Luwak Coffee in English). This coffee is one of famous coffee in the world. 

Luwak Coffee is the drink of coffee that using coffee beans from remaining dirt of civet. In English, Luwak Coffe also mean Civet Coffee. The process of this coffee-making are the bean of coffee berries once they have been eaten and excreted by asian civet.

In Indonesia, Luwak coffee began in 18th century that the Dutch colonial era. Now, you can find this coffee in Sumatera, Java and Bali regions. But you dont be shocked if you find out the prices of this coffee. This Coffee is sold at a price of 500-600 dollars per kilogram and a cup of coffee is sold for 30 dollars. But don't worry, the taste of this coffee will not make you dissapointed. 

Tim Carman, food writer for the Washington Post reviewed kopi luwak available in the US and concluded "It tasted just like...Folgers. Stale. Lifeless. Petrified dinosaur droppings steeped in bathtub water. I couldn’t finish it." (Washingtonpost.com in April 2012)
