Hello, now we will talk about popular food in Indonesia. Sate is name of the food, do you know ?


Sate (In Bahasa Indonesia) or Satay (but i will call it sate) is a food made from the meat is cut into small piece uses skewers from the midrib of the coconut palm frond, although bamboo skewers are often used. These are grilled or barbecued over a wood or chacoal fire, then served with various spicy seasoning. and stabbed the sate pierced with is usually made from bone of thatch or bamboo. The meat that used is usually beef, chicken, goat and others.

This food also popular in others southeast-asian countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Philippines and Thailand. In Indonesia, sate can be obtained in a street-side tend restaurant, in an upper-class restaurant or during traditional celebration feasts.


Usually this food is given from the peanut flavor sauce, soy sauce and others seasoning. Like a Bakso, sate also have variations depending on the region of origin. First, Sate Madura. I think this food is a famous variant among Indonesians. Sate Madura originally from Madura Island, near Java Island. Second, Sate Padang. These food come from my region, West Sumatera province. The main characteristic from this food is a yellow sauce made from rice flour mixed with spicy offal broth, turmeric, ginger and others. There are many types of other sate such as Sate Ponorogo, Sate Tegal, Sate Ambal, Sate Blora, Sate Banjar, Sate Makassar and others.


In some places sate eaten with rice but in other regions, sate eaten with ketupat or lontong (rice cake). Now, there are some foods that are similiar to Sate are Yakitori from Japan, Shish Kebab from Turkey, Chuanr from China, Sosatie from South Africa, and Shashlik from Caucasus. If rendang and Nasi Goreng being the most delicious food in the world (number 1 and 2), sate is listed at number 14 on World's 50 most delicious foods readers poll complied by CNN Go in 2011
